The article is devoted to modern interpretations of William Shakespeare's tragedy "Romeo and Juliet" on the Uzbek stage and is analyzed using the example of two performances staged in 2021 - the Karakalpak State Theater for Young Spectators (dir. A. Kudaynazarov) and the Uzbek State Drama Theater (dir. O. Salimov). The directorial and acting solutions in revealing the image of young heroes are analyzed using the example of two performances. Special attention is paid to the comparison of the tempo-rhythmic solutions of the two theaters and the role of secondary characters in revealing the idea of the work. It is concluded that, despite the differences in national stage traditions and language, both interpretations have preserved the artistic integrity of the tragedy and its universal significance in relation to modern social conflicts.
